When using the staff login on www.tooeleschools.org some people are getting an OOPS 500 error. This is a Finalsite issue and they are working on identifying the cause of the issue. Some are able to login in with multiple tries.

The compromise of Insturcture has caused us to temporally disable sync until the investigation is complete. This is out of caution and we are sorry for the inconvenience. We may have the sync available later this week.

MONITORING

As you know, due to the recent cybersecurity incident involving Canvas, the sync between Canvas and Skyward was disconnected. The incident has now been resolved, and the sync is currently in the process of being restored. However, there is no guarantee that it will be fully reconnected before the end of the school year. Because of this, it is recommended that you begin manually entering grades into Skyward from Canvas. If your grades in Skyward match what is in Canvas and the sync is later restored, it will not negatively impact any grades you have already entered manually. Senior grade posting deadlines have also been extended to 3:00 PM on 5/22/26. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work through this issue.

Canvas Skyward Sync is now working! The Canvas To Skyward Sync Has Been Restored Important Information! ### All TCSD Teachers ### The Canvas to Skyward sync has been restored but you will need to manually initiate the sync from your gradebook in Canvas. Make sure that you double check your grades between Canvas and Skyward after you sync to catch any errors early. Currently Skill Struck, DNA, and Nearpod are still disconnected. We will update this announcement as we receive information about disconnected services.

INVESTIGATING

Canvas was taken offline due to the ongoing cyber event. No information is available as to when it will come back online. This is posted on the TCSD website: Tooele County School District is aware of the reported data breach involving Instructure, which operates the Canvas learning system. At this time, there is no indication that our district was impacted. We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working with Instructure as they complete their investigation. If new information becomes available that affects our district, we will provide updates as appropriate.

Due to the ongoing security issue with Instructure, some of the products that we integrate with Canvas have temporarily disconnected their services.  Currently Skill Struck, DNA, and Nearpod have been disconnected. These programs will not operate inside of Canvas including passing grades. You can still use these products standalone and you can provide a link to these services to your students in your Canvas course. This may create some cases where grades will need to be hand entered in Canvas or Skyward.  There may be other services that disconnect from Canvas until these security issues are resolved and we will update the TCSD IT Status page with information as we receive it.

MONITORING

Tooele County School District has been monitoring a cybersecurity incident involving Instructure, the company that hosts the Canvas Learning Management System used by schools across the country. This incident also caused recent intermittent Canvas outages. At this time, TCSD is not aware of any impact to district data, and our district is not currently identified as one of the affected institutions. However, the investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may become available as Instructure continues its review. Our Technology Department is continuing to monitor the situation closely and is working with state partners and Instructure to stay informed. We will provide updates if any information becomes available that directly impacts TCSD families.

Both students and teachers are getting a message on their Chromebooks that say your password has been changed since the last time you logged in. To fix that you will want to power wash it by holding all of these buttons at the same time. shift+ctrl+alt+r and it should prompt a power wash. There is no other fix for it besides this one that we know of, and has been happening for a while.

Google Chrome and Skyward Multiple Login Pop UpOperational

There is an issue with Google Chrome's latest update causing tabs to refresh. This is causing Skyward to refresh and the refreshed tab brings up a pop up stating there are multiple logins. There are no multiple login attempts to be concerned with. The work around is to use the Edge browser that has no issues with tabs refreshing.
