From Content Keeper: Our team has identified the source of this YouTube search interruption, and an upcoming Windows SK client release will address this behavior. In the meantime, it's been observed that refreshing the browser page resolves the behavior and allows the search to complete. We'll be reaching out as soon as this new client is available.

We are aware of an issue involving Teacher-Led YouTube videos not playing in Nearpod. This issue is interfering with students' ability to answer questions in videos. Please be advised that we are aware of the issue, and it has been reported by other school districts as well.

We met with ContentKeeper and confirmed that the traffic is being blocked by the filter; however, we were unable to identify the specific URL that needs to be allowed at this time. Content Keeper suggested updating to the newer client, Student Keeper, which may resolve the issue. CK will also reach out to Nearpod to obtain any additional URLs that may need to be whitelisted, which could resolve the issue. We will provide another update as soon as we receive that information.

Description

As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce classroom distractions and ensure technology remains an effective instructional tool, we will be implementing a few changes this Thursday, March 5, 2026 External Sharing of Google & OneDrive We will disable TCSD students' ability to share Microsoft files, Google Docs, Slides, and other Google files with users outside our district domain. Students will still be able to share internally with other TCSD students and staff, and staff will retain the ability to share documents/files with students. This adjustment is intended to reduce the sharing and receipt of non-educational or inappropriate materials from outside accounts. We have seen instances where personal Gmail accounts are used to share games, photos, videos, and other content that does not align with instructional purposes. Limiting external sharing will help protect students and maintain a more focused digital environment. Concurrent enrollment students will still be able to share files both internally and externally, but only when they are signed into their Chromebooks with their university-issued credentials. New Tab Behavior As a part of our efforts to make student Chromebooks more manageable, we have changed what happens when a student opens a new tab in chrome. Currently, the "New Tab" page can't be seen by lightspeed. This can allow for certain apps to be run also without being seen by lightspeed or closed by the teacher. Now, when a student opens a new tab, it will automatically load the district website. This should not keep students from doing anything else on the Chromebook. Keyboard Settings We have identified an issue where students unintentionally switch keyboard layouts using shortcut keys, causing confusion when typing or putting in passwords. To reduce this frustration, Chromebooks will be configured to include the US and all TCSD DLI language keyboards. This small adjustment should help prevent accidental keyboard changes and improve the overall classroom experience. Engineers are currently investigating the issue. Summary Students may be unable to submit work to Google Assignment items. The assignment still appears but is currently disabled by default. A recent key Canvas update overrode any custom settings that had previously enabled the tool. Customizations for this tool need to be reset to restore functionality. Expected Behavior Re-instate the placement so students can submit.
